The focus of business is broadening from a short term financial view to a longer term focus on non-financial issues where these can (or are) affect the financial stability of a company. Non-financial issues are often associated with sustainable development and social accountability.
Sustainable Development is essentially actions that help the human world come into balance with the natural world to arrive at the dynamic balance of long term sustainability; it also encompasses Social Accountability in terms of the impacts of actions (both negative and positive) on human populations (and individuals) as well as the natural world. Each element of the human world has its areas of responsibility towards sustainable development:
- government responsibility is to set appropriate regulatory frameworks and incentives;
- individuals have responsibility for their own actions, attitudes and choices; and
- each organisation etc has corporate responsibility for its actions and the influences of
its policies and other corporate decisions.
Future Perfect uses its Evolutionary Sustainability model to help clients determine their current sustainable development profile; and where they aspire to be and how fast they wish to get there; this then aids clients in determining what they need to do and what assistance they need in achieving objectives.

The model can be applied to a single issue, such as environment, or multiple/ integrated issues such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It can look at all areas related to Strategic, Generic, Specific and Operational management, or just to an individual element.
